Visiting TVAD

Published on: November 15th, 2011

I recently visited the TVAD Research Group, based in the School of Creative Arts at the University of Hertfordshire, which researches relationships between text, narrative and image, and which also has a blog. While I was there, I conducted a seminar with degree students. I was particularly interested in a project by a PhD student titled “George Bernard Shaw: Artefacts and the Construction of Identity at Shaw’s Corner.” In this dissertation, Alice McEwan discusses the ways in which the famous writer used objects to create a sense of self within his domestic sphere. The visit to Hertfordshire was inspiring and I’m already looking forward to my return in March of 2012.
