Originally from India, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, specializing in Typography & Editorial Design from Northumbria University in UK. While I was there, I developed a passion for typography and print design. One of my projects during the final year at university was awarded the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) membership. The project explored the taboo of Untouchability or Untouchables in India. Post graduation, I pursued an internship at Addison Group, an advertising agency in London and was involved in pitch projects for clients like BAE Systems, British Land and Japan Tobacco.
Keen to explore how type and visual design adapts to a digital environment, I was involved as a creative designer at a UI/UX boutique called Fractal Ink Design Studio in Mumbai. Here I was tasked with designing user experiences for mobile applications and websites and also got the opportunity to use my academic knowledge of graphic design to create visual interfaces for mobile applications for the No. 1 Hindi national news channel and a mutual fund start-up.
I am looking forward to understand the subject of Design Studies and Design Thinking at Parsons and it’s applications in the real world. As New York is an art and design hub, I am very excited for the adventures it might hold for me.
