Petrified Curtains, Animate Architextiles

petrified_curtains_animate_architextilesSusan Yelavich gave the keynote address at a recent conference, Enmeshed: Architecture and Textiles in Contemporary Design Practice, held on September 24th and 25th in Stockholm’s Konstfack University College of Art, Crafts, and Design.  The conference, organized by Alexa Griffith Winton, part-time faculty at Parsons’ School of Constructed Environments, focused on the relationship between architecture and textiles.

Professor Yelavich’s address, “Petrified Curtains, Animate Architextiles,” presented research involving the reciprocity between textiles and architecture, and how contemporary textile-based structures are seen from cultural and technological perspectives.
