ANNOUNCING: THE SECOND GERALDINE STUTZ ANNUAL RESEARCH AWARD 2017/18

Win a Geraldine Stutz Annual Research Award for your original contribution that will extend existing knowledge of New York fashion and its history, c1890-2010.

Outstanding research recognition awards in the name of the late Geraldine Stutz will be made to two prize winners: for an original written research paper or an original visual essay, using primary sources, on the subject of the history of fashion and dress in New York c1890-2010 (focusing on a specific topic and period).

Two prizes will be awarded, each of $1,500. Entrants may choose to submit a research paper or a visual essay. Winning entries will be added to the research site ‘Women in New York Fashion: A Research Agenda’:

Women in New York Fashion: A Research Agenda was a research project (2013-16) at Parsons School of Design, with funding from the Geraldine Stutz Trust. It investigated and acknowledged the work of Geraldine Stutz (1924-2005), who served as President of Henri Bendel (1957-1986) a major fashion specialty store in New York City. This project placed her work and accomplishments alongside those of other under-recognized women who were key to the development, business, and creative impact of New York fashion retailing in the twentieth century.
