Fashion Studies: Research Methods, Sites and Practices

Fashion Studies Anthology HeikeThe new book Fashion Studies: Research Methods, Sites and Practices, edited by Assistant Professor of Fashion Studies Heike Jenss, was published today by Bloomsbury Academics. This groundbreaking anthology, including the work of several Parsons faculty, focuses in on the dynamics of fashion and its research. With an emphasis on material culture and ethnographic approaches, Fashion Studies presents unique case-studies, with interdisciplinary scholars reflecting on their practical research experiences as they engage with wide ranging themes: from global fashion to wardrobe studies, from Martin Margiela’s design and fashion in the museum to model casting and street-style blogging.

The chapters are written by Cheryl Buckley and Hazel Clark, Sophie Woodward, Christina H. Moon, Brent Luvaas, Stephanie Sadre-Orafai, Todd E. Nicewonger, Francesca Granata, Susan B. Kaiser and Denise Nicole Green, Otto von Busch, Joanne B. Eicher and Heike Jenss. With a foreword by Christopher Breward.

Parsons School of Design will host a special event to mark the release of Fashion Studies: Research Methods, Sites and Practices, together with Heike Jenss’ new monograph Fashioning Memory: Vintage Style and Youth Culture on February 24, 2016.
