The season of giving is here, and many of us are taking to the usual stores to buy gifts for our loved ones. But, as this past week has proved, there are so many alternate routes to shop other than major department stores on Black Friday; for example Small Business Saturday and Giving Tuesday. Case in point: A newly launched denim brand called Only Foreign provides its customers with quality, timeless products that promotes sustainability. The best part? It is helmed by MAFS alum, Malin Wennberg.

Malin is from Sweden and graduated from our program in May 2015. Her research interests are centered on sustainable fashion and turning a critical eye to fast fashion. Prior to joining forces with her Only Foreign team, she interned with Marc Jacobs and Adam Lippes. Now, she is taking all of her experience and applying it toward her newest venture, as she works as the head designer for Only Foreign. According to their website, their mission “is to bring attention to, and stop the reckless waste that happens as a result of today’s fast fashion system. By working exclusively with recycled materials and renewable fibers, we offer an alternative path.”

The company’s products are handmade all in New York.
