Parsons The New School for Design invites you to attend Tracing the Evolution of New York Fashion Retail, on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 2-5 pm. The event will present the research findings from the first year of an ongoing three-year project sponsored by the Geraldine Stutz Trust and led by Dr. Hazel Clark, Research Chair of Fashion and Professor of Design Studies and Fashion Studies at Parsons. The first-year Stutz Fellows— Maureen Brewster (MA in Fashion Studies) and Junyao Peng (MA in History of Decorative Arts and Design) — will share their research on the history of fashion retail in New York City from the late 19th century to the late 20th century.

Focusing on the research findings and methodology, the fellows will present and discuss their research with featured respondents — Dr. Elaine Abelson, Dr. Christina Moon, and Dr. Ethan Robey. The presentation and following discussion will offer a multidisciplinary perspective on the fascinating process of research within the rich cultural and historical landscape of New York City.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, and refreshments will be served after the event. Following the presentations, the Stutz fellows will also answer questions and chat with those interested in applying as research assistants for year two (2014-2015) of this 3-year project.
