PLDS 4075, Design for Aging Populations, visits 305 West End Avenue

Part-time faculty member Jeffrey Rosenfeld took his Design for Aging Populations class on a tour of 305 West End Avenue, a nationally recognized Senior Residence.

An account from Jeffrey Rosenfeld:

I am a Gerontologist by training, with a specialty in Environmental
Gerontology.  I currently teach PLDS 4075, Design for Aging Populations.
Early in the Spring 2024 semester,  I was awarded $125 to put toward a
museum-visit  or its educational equivalent.

I used my funding to schedule a field trip to 305 West End Avenue,
known as “305.”  305 is a Continuum of Care Facility (a CCRC) ,
which offers 3-floors of  Independent Living, 3-floors of Assisted Living,
and 2 floors with secure Memory Care Units.

There are differences in design which correspond to the needs of
the populations being housed on the various floors at 305.

PLDS 4075 visited this facility on 3 April 2024.  We were met by staff
from the Community Relations arm of 305.  We toured the entire building,
including the secure Alzheimer’s Units, and also areas where residents
go for art, physical therapy, music therapy and crafts.

At the end of the tour, we were met  by Jonathan Davidov, General Manager
of 305. Included here are two photos (Field Trip, #6, and Field Trip #7)
compliments of Community Relations at 305. and one photo (Field Trip #5)
compliments of  Parsons student Sam Ting, who is currently enrolled in PLDS 4075.
