Landscapes in Moments of Suspension — Recent Works by Jessica Cannon

Two recent works by Jessica Cannon have been included in The Big Exclusives Summer Collection at Little Paper Planes.  Little Paper Planes, an artist-run organization based out of Oakland, California, encourages artists’ careers through the support of publications, prints, curatorial and licensing projects.

Jessica Cannon’s paintings portray landscapes that hover between human design and natural forces.  They engage the role that humans have in shaping the natural world and the internal dissonance that arises from having this power.

Her recent works, including The Three Conflicts and Wall for A., are concerned with landscapes in moments of suspension, caught between an impossible future defined by crises, and a fictional past where the natural world is a backdrop for escapist fantasies. She is interested in how individuals experience the landscape as a place of searching but also as a finite system.
