Brown Bag Talk: "Geographical Practices and Uneven Development."

Recently, there has been a resurgence of land or site-based artistic practices, in which themes of site, territories, borders, and boundaries intersect with ecological, political and juridical discourses. This talk explores the relationship of these “geographical practices” to the material conditions of global capitalism, specifically looking at how a counter-model to the dominant, celebratory accounts of geographical expansion in contemporary art might be generated through David Harvey’s concept of “uneven development.”
